I grew up in Warwick, graduated from WVHS in 1981.
I have heard many stories about my father and the gang of Schmick kids.
Some of these pictures I sent are from my maternal grandmother, Emma Miller.
They had/have the farm out on Route 94.
As it turns out I have one album here at my place in Arlington, MA.
I am attaching some pictures from it.

I would love to pick the brains of anyone about Warwick in the old days.
I am wrapping up a post-doctoral program in Museum Studies at Tufts and busy, but, as you see, look forward to diversions.
I had read among the submissions to "Scrapbook" something from one of the children of Budge Finger.
I spent a lot of time at the Warwick Drive-In growing up,
and I can remember many pictures of the building of it from about 1948 or 1949,
but I don't know where those pictures are? Any pictures of it out there from the ole days.
The Drive-in was part of my grandparent's farm originally, and I used to walk-in from the cornfields and watch movies.
I had always planned on writing something about the Drive-in and the Oakland Theater,
which I also used to frequent in its decline (early 1970s).
If you could, and if that's okay, find the email address of the daughter of Budge Finger,
who, I believe, has moved away from the Warwick area, I would appreciate it.
I would like to get any memories she has down on paper or in a recorded oral history some day,
but maybe she might share information through some emails.
I had many of the same teachers as my parents at School. I will send some more, when I get the chance.
My email is Kitapsevenkimse@aol.com

I lived in Warwick back in 1965-8. My wife, Glenna, taught business at the high school
and I worked in Sterling Forest at Union Carbide.
I joined the Masons there when Bro. Wheeler was master.
We joined the Methodist Church when Rev. Joe Bailey was pastor.
Made lots of friends and memories - especially Warwick's Centennial celebration.
I did the final artwork draft for the fete's seal.

Hello Everyone! I was looking at Marty Feldner's wonderful railroad site, lhr.railfan.net and
then saw this site. My dad, Walt Burns, was the mechanical supt. for the railroad
from about 1950-1975 when he died. He moved our family to Warwick in 1952 and we lived at 4 Fairview Drive.
My mother, Margaret (Peg) Burns is in the photo of the den mothers. I was 7 at the time.
	Thanks for this scrapbook!

I have been living over the New York State line in New Jersey for forty seven years

Enjoy the kids. I have three grown children and four grandchildren.

Hi Eddie,
I enjoy your web site. Or should I say OUR web site.. For it is all of us who read and enjoy or not ejnoy
that made up this wonderful community. I feel fortune to be part of Warwick's history.

I sent an EMAIL awhile back mentioning the Drive-In Theatre. I'm sure almost everyone who reads
this site remembers and has been there one time or another. I am very proud of my parents,
for they had a dream and that dream became a reality and still exists to this day.
My parents for those who don't know were Charlie (Budge) and Mary Finger.
They were good people who worked very hard and contributed much to Warwick and families who lived there.
I miss them very much as I'm sure many of you do whose parents have passed.
If I can find some pictures will be glad to send them on.

Thanks again for the memories.

Judi

I was born at St. Anthony's, grew up in Greenwood Lake, visited
(and was visited by) Dr.Kleeman, X-rayed on more than one occassion by Dr.S Bradner, filled prescriptions at Rexall,
played town ball against Warwick for Greenwood Lake and later Monroe, dated a Warwick girl,
saw both my parents throughout their last illnesses at St. Anthonys and in so many ways feel connected to Warwick
and to the times you depict. Seeing the town as I saw it in the late 40's and 50's brought back pictures
that were only the dimmest of memories in my mind. My deepest appreciation to the people who have developed
	this wonderful web site.

event together!!

What a wonderful time we had; we both had no idea what it would mean to

I walked away feeling very proud to have been a member of Warwick High.
We all grew up to be people contributing to life! It was very meaningful

This is really a great 40s and 50s site!
Its not easy finding family sites on the Internet that offer so many nostalgic pictures from the good old days.
Someone has put a lot of work into this site and it really shows.
I've been working on a similar project only our town was on the West Coast - Sacramento, Calif.

Hope your reunion goes well next month, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of the pictures.

I bought the Amity Store and the half-acre of land in the summer
of 1968 for $1750. It was in terrible condition--vandalized,
broken windows, heaps of garbage, rat infested.
I was 25 years old, and proud to own my first home.
Learned how to cut glass, and replaced 500 panes before
winter set in. Over the next 6 years, I did my best to
improve and restore the old building--a daunting and
expensive chore because it was so big. The store is haunted
--strange noises and footsteps in the night.
Apparitions seen by more than one person simultaneously,
but nothing threatening. We had more pictures similar
to the one you have posted, but they were thrown out by
accident by an acquaintance. My wife started the Amity Bakery
in 1969, and I started a cabinet shop in that building the
	same year--Chardavogne Woodworking--which outgrew Amity
and moved to Warwick. I have lived in the Seattle area for
23 years (my home town), but have many fond memories of
Warwick--what a great town full of terrific people.

Mom and pop died last year, which brought me back to Warwick. While there are a few folks there, Peggy Howell, Walt O'Dell, Rocky Garcia and his lovely wife, Claire (Miller), who is a historian unto herself, Ethel Ferdun, from the Class of 53 (mine), there are so many strangers. A tour of the cemeteries brings back memories. But Warwick's still a great place and there are some of our roots still there. Jack Askham, Charlie Hasbrouck, and oh, so many of my cousin Larry Doty's kids, who aren't kids anymore. Who could ask for a better place in which to grow up. I rode up Third Street, and Bill Patterson's house is still there. So is the Kelly house, although not the way Charlie and his sister Alice kept it.

I lived in Warwick in the late 40's and early 50's, on Church St, next to what else, a church. I lived with my father's aunt and uncle, Pauline and John Rone.

If anyone knows of the "Nesbit", (spelling could be wrong) family, I have some old photographs of an ancestor of theirs who would have been born in the late 1800's. The photos are of a black female taken in Virginia or the Carolina's around 1908, who then moved to Warwick and married.

My name is Tami Giardino, age 42..I was born and raised in Warwick. I lived at 21 Grand Street, with my family (parents John and Angela Giardino). My dad was the Chief Xray Technologist at Saint Anthonys Hospital, for many years..my mom was an Obstetrical Nurse there as well. My parents are now in Florida..my dad is quite ill, unfortunately..suffering from cancer. I am working in Westchester County as a Virologist with the Department of Laboratories and Research, and live in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Other family members include
Marilyn who resides in California
Carolyn who resides in Florida
Janis who resides in Kentucky
John Jr. who resides in British Columbia
Lisa who resides in Florida
So Im currently the only New Yorker left!!
Any time I pass through Warwick, I go by the house, and just cry! Good Memories!
God Bless!!

This is a great site. Are there any pictures around of the Oakland theater? Also I think the picture of the Post Office is a least from 1962 as there is a 62 Chevy Belair or Impala in the picture. There is also a picture of Main Street by the creek and it is labeled with a comment of possibly being from the late 60's. but it shows the stop lights in place. I do not remember whenthey were put up but it was after the 60's. Possibly in the 70's.

I am hoping, that someone can help me or refer me to someone who might. I have a letter from my great grandmother Mary Furman, wife of Alexander Allan, and 2nd wife of William Furman. The letter is dated 8/15/1926. the return address is RD#2 Browestown Road, Edenville, NY (post marked Warwick). In the letter grandmother says that as soon as they sell the store they will move back down to NJ. (probably referring to Essex or Bergen county, NJ, where her daughter, Ruth Sullivan lived. In a letter dated 3/1927, the property is still not sold but there is a prospective buyer!

They tell me that there is no Browestown Rd. in Warwick, that it is possible that it was a small country rd. that has since been renamed. If anyone, reading this message can shed any light at all on my mystery I will be eternally grateful....Judging from what I have heard about this quaint little community, there could not have been many stores for sale in 1927.
