Here's my guess as to how this photo came about. Sue was walking home from school one winter day in 1949 when her mom spotted her through the store window. She looked so cute in her cowgirl garb that Minna Heiblim just had to have a picture of this. So she grabbed a camera and rushed out and across the street and said to Sue, "Wait let me get a picture of you. Look here, put your books down on the pavement. Ok, hold it, now smile."
