At the dinner table one evening, my daughter Brett (then age 12) said, "You know Cindy? She’s going out with Chris."
     "Yeah ... When?" I responded.
     "When?"
     "Yeah when, or where?"
    "Dad!" Ashley, age ten, admonished me for being stupid.
    "What?" I said.
    "She’s going out with him," Ashley advised.
    "Yeah, so what’s that supposed to mean?" I said.
     "It means he’s her boyfriend."
     "Oh OK, I get the picture, You mean they go together."
     "No, never, Cindy would never go with him," Brett said.
     "Then why did she become his girl friend?" I asked.
     "Dad!"
     "What?"
     "She’s not a big goer."
     "Goer?" I said.
     "Yeah, goer! Someone that goes all the time. Cindy’s not like that."

Going with     =    making out with
Going out with =    going together, going steady, boyfriend and girlfriend
Going out      =    same as above
Goer               =  boy or girl who makes out a lot, without too much concern as to with whom. In the 50s it was fast.
Going together =    making out together
