Little Brothers: For baseball games a couple of the bigger boys would gather up all the kids they could until it seemed like there were enough players. If a kid had a younger brother they always said, "Bring your little brother," in case they needed extras.
    If the little brothers had to play, the bigger kids would always try to get the other team to let one of the big sluggers take their last strike. That meant that if a little kid got two strikes on him, some big kid would hit for his last strike and the little kid would run. I remember that I hated this when I was a little kid and as far as I could see the little kids that followed me in years felt the same way. The truth was that while everyone thought that little kids didn’t know much of anything there was one thing that they did know and that was that they didn’t want anyone taking their last strike.
    During my little kid days, whenever this happened to me I always tried to keep the bat. This forced the big kids to yank it away from me, which they did without remorse.
