Joe "Smokey" Carr was in the 4th grade when pictured here. "Smokey" was a prominent lad about town in the forties and fifties. I don't know what became of Joe after he moved from Warwick. I am sad to say that when I ran into his sister Judy some years back, she told me that Joe passed away a few years previous. I think that was around the mid or late 1980s.
I remember Joe as a most enterprising young boy, who was very much filled with a young boy's dreams. I recall as well that he would often spin a quick yarn whenever we younger boys gathered around.
I hope that he realized a few of his dreams. ... from
