- "RIP- from class of 1954"


John R. Winchester, lovingly known as "Doc", 79, of Bethlehem died at St. Luke's Anderson Campus on May 5, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones. He was the husband of Geraldine "Geri" (Wartman) Winchester. Born in Pottstown, PA he was a son of the late Robert C. and Marguerite (Guest) Winchester. He was inducted into Warwick High School Hall of Fame as a scholar athlete. He graduated from Lehigh University and Cleveland Marshall Law School. John was a member of the ROTC at Lehigh and spent four years in the Army Chemical Corps in Edgewood Arsenal, MD. After the Army he worked at Texaco Oil Company, and then was hired by J.T. Baker Chemical Company as VP of Marketing. He owned a hotel in Ocean City, MD. He retired from Notre Dame High School in Easton, where he taught chemistry and physics and coached the tennis team for 25 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem. Survivors: Wife; Son Robert of Wall, NJ; daughters, Lori Marshall, and Marci Wohlbach, both of Bethlehem; a brother Edward of Florham Park, NJ; and grandchildren: Logan Winchester, Alexandra Wohlbach, Madison Marshall, Robyn and Hannah Winchester, Cameron Wohlbach, and Wyatt Marshall. Services: A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, at First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St, Bethlehem.
